Spring break [Mar. 6th, 2007|07:20 pm]
So spring break's coming up and I have no plans, although most likely I'll be spending it in Boston. Wonder if anyone'll be around?

Spent some time with my cousin lately, which was strange and nice, since I don't usually talk to him.

Last episode of Heroes for a while aired Monday. Next one won't be shown until April 23rd. Getting exciting.

My grandfather's in the hospital. I'm stressed out.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

Doobeedoo... [Jan. 25th, 2006|04:11 pm]
So much and yet so little has happened lately.

For one, my house in North Carolina is no longer mine. We've sold it.

Over winter break, I went home to Boston to meet up with parents, and then the three of us drove down to North Carolina to pack up the house. I found a bunch of old things that I've lost track of. A lot of memories, and some of them... well, there's this one dry-erase board there that me and someone else wrote on a bunch. Apparently we wrote on it with PERMANENT marker. So uh, that was rather annoying-- I couldn't get rid of the writing, and I considered it kind of private. :( Then there were all the photos. Old photos of my birthday parties. One bunch especially where Mara organized a bunch of friends and filled my rooms with pillows, and Amy led me home from Animazement all unsuspecting to be greeted by a huge SURPRISE! from people. And more of the 3 week, 2 foot snow vacation. Just lots of stuff that had gone to the corners of my mind, brought up by these old pictures.

I'm not living in the past or anything, but I do miss it when I see stuff like that. :)

I think school has been school. I get the feeling sometimes I'm avoiding my friends here. I should change that, but I just haven't got the incentive. I'll visit people eventually.

Also, there's this guy... that I really, really like. I met him just a couple weeks before Thanksgiving of last year. Um, I want to say so much about this, but I really don't feel this is the place. So I'll stop here.

Old quotes I found~ [Dec. 27th, 2005|10:19 pm]
[Current Mood | busy]

As I was cleaning the apartment, I found some old Terry Pratchett quotes I wrote down for some reason. Since I'll undoubtedly throw these out in a few minutes, I thought I should write them down somewhere else... Read more... )

Laptop has gone kaput. [Jun. 17th, 2005|01:29 pm]
[Current Mood | aggravated]
[Current Music |...that aquarium song...]

So Wednesday night I visited Spence, and watched him play FFXI, and I fiddled with my laptop which was refusing to pick up on the wireless that day. (It worked every other day, made no sense.) And then in the middle of the hassle with that, and IMs and such, it.... froze. My laptop never freezes. It freezes so irregularly that I cannot remember the last time it could have possibly froze. It's been months, years even, since the last time.

Anyways, I turn it off and turn it back on, to have it NOT WANT TO TURN BACK ON. Argh! Ever since then it's been decidedly shutoff even when it's turned on. It'll be all black-screeny or turn on and then crash 5 minutes later. I don't even have enough time to transfer my precious data somewhere else. It keeps crashing when I'm halfway done uploading or zipping something. It's driving me insane. :(

This means I have no internet. And I really really wanted to talk to some people too. I'm using my dad's computer for the time being.

I've called and e-mailed the helpdesk at RPI. Too bad I did this today, Friday, and they aren't open on the weekend. Sunday night my dad comes back from his trip, but I could possibly drive up to RPI after my dad gets home and have the helpdesk look at it on Monday. They also said there was a possibility I could mail it up, but they guy I had to e-mail to get info on how to mail it up hasn't replied, so hmm.

Birthday! [May. 29th, 2005|06:11 pm]
Whee~!

I turn 21 today. Am now 21 years of age!

Yesterday I went to NC, got to hang around with Amy and Erica at Animazement! Was very amusing to watch Erica hide from the anime freaks. Received Sunshine (the book) from Amy! Bumped into random people I knew from high school (Zach and Kristen, and some others that I don't really remember names for).

A bit sad I didn't get to stay longer and see Matt or Mara or anyone else. But I think I'll be heading down some other time this summer so I can see them! :)

Today, I get to do some more work for my dad. Oh, and my mom baked this cake for me. Hehe. It's pretty cute. I want to upload some pictures somewhere if I can figure out how to do it... any pointers, anyone?

EDIT: I just checked my mail, and thank you, Claire!

Weird. Went walking out and this group of 17 roller-bladers all clumped together were skating in uniform and using those hand-gesture things for cars. It was very cute. They passed me 3 times.

It's a time of departure, at least for the summer. I'm already missing people I haven't seen these last two days. Lotta friends have been leaving, or are leaving now, for home or other parts of the country. I'm going home tomorrow. But for now, it seems very depressing and lonesome.

I do have to pack and write up some things, so I'll be able to keep myself busy, at least. Hmm.

Exams are over, I'm pretty happy with my grades. Still have to study for actuarial exam on the 25th, I believe. Animazement is at the end of the month, and I'd really like to go, but I don't know if I can. It depends on my job, so... we'll see. I'd like to see all you Chapel Hill people again, so I'll try my best. :)

Upstairs had a party last night, blargh. It was loud. Downstairs, the new roommate, Alex, had 2 of his friends over and they played DDR. So good. So scary good. He got AA on heavy on Ethnic.

I've been under siege by allergy season lately. My eyes itch, I sneeze a lot, my nose itches, where are the tissues?!, and I'm thirsty a lot. Hmm, it almost sounds like a cold, but I'm sure it's just allergies.

Ooh. And as soon as all the studying is over. I can buy my books. Hehehe. In no particular order:

August: Cast in Shadow - Michelle Sagara
House War - Michelle West
4th Jaran book (cheap one) - Kate Elliott
Sunshine (wait for paperback, out already) - Robin McKinley
February 4th: Bite - Laurell K. Hamilton
April 12th: A Stroke of Midnight (Meredith Gentry Novel) - Laurell K. Hamilton
Dead as a Doornail (Southern Vampire Mysteries) - Charlaine Harris
Dreams Made Flesh - Anne Bishop
Powers of Detection: Tales of Mystery and Fantasy ("The Price", anthology) - Anne Bishop

You Are a Dreaming Soul

Your vivid emotions and imagination takes you awy from this world
So much so that you tend to live in your head most of the time
You have great dreams and ambitions that could be the envy of all...
But for you, following through with your dreams is a bit difficult

You are charming, endearing, and people tend to love you.
Forgiving and tolerant, you see the world through rose colored glasses.
Underneath it all, you have a ton of passion that you hide from others.
Always hopeful, you tend to expect positive outcomes in your life.

Souls you are most compatible with: Newborn Soul, Prophet Soul, and Traveler Soul

Back in Boston for a short time [Mar. 17th, 2005|01:29 pm]
[Current Mood | okay]

I'm home from vacation. (I went to Acapulco, Mexico.) The vacation went fine -- much love to walking on the beach, watching the waves, gazing at waves, staring at waves, eating at restaurants with great views and cheap menus, flea markets, and drinking pina colada. Did not enjoy the homework I took along to work on, the heat and humidity, the no-internet-access, nor the mosquito bites. Had some difficulty with American Airlines and my dad's scooter (aka, they lost it for a day). I think we took about 5 pictures, so not much to show that way. Was a shock to go from ~80 degrees to ~30 degrees when we got back to Boston, but I'm enjoying it.

I was a bit sad to come back and see what was going on with friends. Didn't expect a few of the things to occur, felt like I was being hit with a ton of bad news. But on whim, I just IMed someone I hadn't spoken to since going to college, and that was cool. Caught up a bit on news. It's a DR friend, so most of you wouldn't know him anyways. We used to fret about what colleges we'd get into and stuff together. And we had a first aid competition (who could get more FA!) when we both played; he got ahead by quite a bit, and I blame his brother for training his character.

As a sidenote: April, I thought you were going to post pictures!

I'll be back at RPI tonight, since I just can't seem to work at home in Boston. Rather hard to concentrate when there's pretty much just two rooms in the apartment to work in (the bedroom and the living room) and one of my parents occupies each of them to do -their- work.

On vacation, I seem to have missed someone a lot more than I expected to, and that was weird, 'cause I basically told the person to leave me alone a few days before I left, and maybe that was the wrong thing to do, and hmm... I'll think about that part more later.

Anyways, I'm alive, I'm okay.

I'm bored. And I'm stressed. And I'm really only bored because I don't want to do what I'm stressing about doing. Which would be work. So I'm lazy and therefore bored at the moment, but stressed because I know I have to do it.

But I think I signed up for the wrong class. As in, one that I don't need to graduate, and which I'm having trouble with. However, I'm now stuck between a rock and a hard place because I can't drop it anymore and get a new course at the same time. I just... I should stick with it. But I regret now not looking at my schedule more closely, twice, or three times, checking, to see if I really actually needed this course. I can't recall where I got the information that I did, but I had it all compiled in this nice little chart. But that chart is wrong! Gah!

In other news, Valentine's Day was kind of sad for me. I did get a big box of chocolate chip cookies from my parents though, which I gave out to people, and which I've had stolen from me, too, hmm.

Studying in the library in a room is not so bad. But I don't feel like I would get much done either way. It's a nice atmosphere though. But I think I'd get rather depressed by myself there too. Ugh, I don't know. I can see the positives and the negatives.

Yes, I did break down and am now playing DR. But it's not so bad, 'cause I can multi-task and I can log out in an instant, unlike FFXI. And alt-tab. And a number of things that make it easy to play while doing work, and easy to stop playing while doing work. Plus I hadn't realized how much I missed some of my friends there. :) <333 Malz & Als

On even more other news, I believe April's back in the states, and I haven't seen her yet? *pokes April if she's reading this* We have to set up a time to see each other!

In other other news, I joined ballroom dancing. Um, and if you're reading this journal and don't have a LJ account, I think you should get one. >:)

Eerie. The more I research on this subject, the more freaked out I get. I don't know if that's good. I mean... it's an interesting "wow, that hits too close to home" sort of thing. *ponders*

In other news... Als and Malz both asked me to come back to DR. I shan't though. Not for a bit. Probably not for this semester. Too much to do!

Ela IMed me! o.o;; I felt pretty special about that, kinda makes me miss FFXI. We used to talk about the going ons there a lot more, and well, I no longer play.

So things are progressing, change is happening, ahahha, nevermind!

[Current Mood | stressed]

Looked up a few dates. My actuarial exam is March 12... that seems... really soon. Spring break is from March 14-18, and I think I'm going to Mexico somewhere. Final exams will be held May 9-13.

Am starting to get stressed out by schoolwork again. Am also not dealing with stress well.

Have been procrastinating. Watched Alias (tv show, but got off DVD that I borrowed from friend), liked it, decided to not watch it because I was spending too much time on it, have then looked up many many fanfics involving some Alias people, realized that the relationship I'm most interested in for that show would likely never ever happen. Have also been spending a lot more time at friend's dorm. Visit them 3/4ths of the days in a week. Seem to lose the day if I stay home. Have been fooling around with small MUD that isn't very RPGish, but a couple other friends play too; one server of Legend of the Green Dragon. Would not really recommend it. Have decided to go to ballroom dancing lessons every Thursday at 6:00pm (held at Mother's Emporium).

Met a few pretty cool people in some classes. CS1 is very easy. Fundamentals is very time consuming. The others are okay, and not challenging enough. My actuarial exam prep online course is very time consuming. So, um, basically my math courses are taking up a lot of time, and stressing me out, while I don't seem to be giving any thought to my other 3 classes.

Genericon is this weekend. A few of Theo's friends are visiting and staying over. I got to sneak into the con twice and sneak into Sage dining once. Saved myself ~$18. Which I then spent on getting coffee.

Am starting to enjoy some coffee, although not the warm kind. The frozen lattes and frappuchinos. And even if it is 0 degrees out... eh.

Hope some friends are okay. Know I haven't spoken to some people in ages.

Parents want me to visit them in Boston next weekend, so I'll probably stay there for a day or two.
